Q & A with
the Company
Recommended
for All Grades
In a hosted question and
answer session, the cast and production staff are available
to let your students ask questions in a relaxed, post-performance
setting. A dialogue with the company may bring up many
subjects: themes of the play, careers in the theatre,
the craft of acting, and more.
This workshop generally lasts 25 minutes and is available
only after the final performance of the day.
The Q&A workshop is
available only after the final performance of the day.
The cost for the 2008-2009 season for groups of 75 persons
and under: $50. For groups over 75 students: $75.
Technical Theatre
Recommended for
grades 5-12
In a hosted demonstration,
a Coterie professional and selected members of the cast
and production staff are available to let your students
ask "How is it done?" in the theatre. They will
also expose the work behind the scenes and inform your
students about additional careers in the theatre besides
acting. Areas covered may include scene design elements,
properties, lighting, costuming, makeup, sound design
and composition, as well as direction and stage management.
The workshop generally
lasts 25 minutes and is available after any weekday or
weekend performance.
Cost for the 2008-2009
season for groups of 75 persons and under: $50. For groups
over 75 students: $75.
Reaching
the Write Minds
Available to
grades 7-12 only
Playwriting in your junior or high school!
Available throughout the school year
To give a voice to emerging
young writers, the Coterie offers a playwriting seminar
in your school based on Coterie Artistic Director Jeff
Church's acclaimed program that originated at the Kennedy
Center in Washington, D.C.
Students will learn to create settings, devise scenarios,
and build characters. Upon completion of this two-session
seminar with a Coterie professional playwright/facilitator,
young playwrights will have several fully written scenes
and devised a beginning scenario for a complete play.
Available for grades 7
- 12 only, our REACHING THE WRITE MINDS seminars are conducted
in your school or -- perhaps preferably -- elsewhere (often
the Westport Coffee House or Coterie Theatre facility
are available).
The seminar may be held in one five-hour session OR in
two sessions, each 2 ½ hours in length.
Following the seminar,
participants may be selected to develop their plays at
The Coterie in our Young Playwrights' Roundtable!
• The cost is $300 for a maximum of 20 students.
• A teacher is required to be present throughout
the seminar.
• Reaching the Write Minds may be booked through
the Coterie's booking coordinator at (816) 474-4241.
